160512 Wednesday
So here I am on my second off-day surviving only on 3 hrs of sleep the previous night as I was trying to rush out the earlier blog posts. I guess it was also partially the sense of urgency to make full use of every moment of my off-day productively, which led to the determination to stay awake and the adrenaline rush the next morning. And so I drank my first cup of coffee at Yellowstone..
Well anyway, 12 of us set out on a hike to see the Lone Star Geyser, which was a 5 miles hike in total. We took 4 hours in total and came back all tired and dirty! I think hiking's a great way to make new friends! We met another group in front of us and so it was a really big group.
We totally didn't expect snow on the way! So it was quite a pleasant surprise for me(first time hiking in the snow)! The weather was good - cool and not humid. Never hiked for such long hours without sweating at all, unlike in Singapore. And the snow made it all the more exciting. Most of the time you'll never know if you'll fall through the snow at your next step, hence the thrill, and your best bet would be to step in the footprints of the previous person! There were quite a lot of footprints to show the way - which was how we knew there was a group ahead of us. And good thing we started early! Cos when we were on our way back, the snow began to melt and it was even harder to walk on them. Well my work shoes which i wear everywhere (my hiking boots have yet to arrive) were quite trusty for the first half.. then they got wet when i stepped into a stream and snow went in.. leaving my feet freezing cold. And I was trying to protect my camera with my dear life so I fell quite a bit (i rather fall than let my camera hit anything). But it was oh so fun. I'll let the pictures do the talking, though they are still far off from showing what an adventure we had! Oh one last thing! We were soooo blessed to have the geyser go off just as we reached. Mind you, it only goes off every 3 hours!:P

Our destination: Lone Star Geyser
Introducing my 2 sweet roommates: RenTong & Hua Jun, together w Ning Yu :)
Trying to find our way back
Passing by a waterfall
the way home :)
Anyway, following the footprints in the snow and a book i'm reading now called Pilgrim's Progress remind me of this song:
Find us faithful
We're pilgrims on the journey
Of the narrow road
And those who've gone before us line the way
Cheering on the faithful, encouraging the weary
Their lives a stirring testament to God's sustaining grace
Surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses
Let us run the race not only for the prize
But as those who've gone before us
Let us leave to those behind us
The heritage of faithfulness passed on through godly lives
CHORUS:
Oh may all who come behind us find us faithful
May the fire of our devotion light their way
May the footprints that we leave
Lead them to believe
And the lives we live inspire them to obey
Oh may all who come behind us find us faithful
After all our hopes and dreams have come and gone
And our children sift through all we've left behind
May the clues that they discover and the memories they uncover
Become the light that leads them to the road we each must find
Oh yeah and do read Pilgrim's Progress if you have a chance to! It's really a great book which i always had (but forgot about it).. I'm starting to appreciate more and more. It's gonna be a book I'll read and reread and find it refreshing and thought-provoking all over again :)
