Amtrak ride to San Francisco

140712 Saturday

It was going to be a long day of train rides! All the way from Anaheim to Los Angelas then to San Francisco. Was pretty excited cos we specially took Amtrak just to ride along the California coastline :)
 At Anaheim

Ample legspace on this comfortable train :)
 Beach and more beach
How nice to own a beach-front house :)
 RVs by the roadside
 Summer's here!

Dining cabin, behind it is the viewing area where there are seats facing the window:)

We were looking forward to a lovely train ride but this turned out to be the worst train ride of my life. The train engine was faulty and we were going at sloth speed, even slower than cars.. It was 2 hrs delay, then 3, then 4.. with the train stopping very frequently. It was nightfall before we could see much of the coastal area we were supposed to see. And I was feeling extremely sick by that time. To add on to it, the temperature was pretty cold, even to my friends, and it was more so for me since I was sick. Couldn't sleep at all due to the cold and unwell-ness, it was really really a bad time to be stuck in a train. Just as we thought we were approaching our destination, a man committed suicide in the train in front of us and the police had to investigate, so we were delayed even longer. It was supposed to be a 15 hours journey in total, but we took 22 hours in the end, only reaching our hostel in SF at 6am in the morning. We were told that suicides at the tracks were pretty common in US. Not gonna try Amtrak again.. I  will take a plane instead for around the same price.
An experience of a lifetime though!
