Streets of SF

150712-160712 Wednesday & Thursday

So I ended my last post mentioning that we only reached our hostel at six in the morning. Not wanting to waste any more time, we decided to just catch a short nap and go for the Wild West Walking Tour at ten. I was told I fell asleep immediately and slept like log cos I didn't even know when Trina climbed onto my bed  several times to charge her stuff haha. Looking back, I think the lack of sleep + me still running around the chilly city just made everything worst :( But how could I just stay in the room when I finally reached the much-raved SF? Anyway, I decided to just brave the outdoors and hopefully find some medicine along the way too so that I can start feeling a little bit better.

The Wild Wes Walking Tour was really a cool tour where Wild Wes Leslie brought us around Union Square, the Westin St. Francis Hotel, Maiden Lane, Chinatown, Portsmouth Square, the Jackson Square Historic District, North Beach and Washington Square Park. The entire tour lasts for about 2.5 hrs. Our guide's really cool and he carries this ukulele around, strumming it and singing quirky songs about the history and stories of SF. Plus, it's free! (not including tips of course:P) A fun & great way to start exploring the streets of SF:D
Entering Chinatown
This fortune cookie factory doesnt allow photos, but they give out free samples of their handmade fortune cookies :)
This park has many ppl doing qigong, uncles playing chess etc :P

This is a section of an underground tunnel that was once used for illegal human trafficking. It's under an Art Shop now.
The beauty of juxtaposition

After the tour, we headed to Cafe DeLucchi in Little Italy for lunch which was just a short walk away.

After lunch, climbed all the way uphill to Lombard Street, the "Crookedest Street"
Coit Tower from far
The famous Cable Car
Ghirardelli for chocs and sundae
Cute cupcake shop

At Fisherman's Wharf
The catch from their fishing trip

A really cool place with many antique mechanic coin operated machines at Pier 45

At Boudin fascinated by their really cute sourdough bread

The famous Pier 39
Lonely, I am so lonely...
Dinner
Fogs of SF
Parallel parking at its best; you need skillsss to drive in SF with all the hills around!

The next day we were supposed to go cycling across the Golden Gate Bridge, but I was completely down & beaten by the virus, just feeling cold cold and cold in the room when it was going to be even colder at the bridge:( So Jt & Trina went on their own and I slept all the way till evening time. Went out for dinner at this super nice ramen place though, which cheered me up:D

Beautiful flowers on the way, how I love the flowers!
The ramen shop, you have to leave your name on the clipboard outside and they'll call you when it's your turn
Yummy Katanaya to warm our tummys; extremely satisfied and ready to brave the cold walk back :D
